Risks & Side Effects
Generally, our patients tend to tolerate BOTOX® injections very well and the side effects are not common, however there are some that do occur sometimes. These can include;
- swelling or bruising around the injection site
- mild pain and tenderness around the injection site
- headaches
- flu-like symptoms
- upset stomach
- numbness in the chosen area
- temporary drooping of the eyelids
- temporary weakness in surrounding muscles
- malaise or general lack of wellness
In extremely rare cases, a person could have a genetic predisposition to the treatment that results a mild and unusual response to the injection.
It’s also worth noting that in some cases, people who have BOTOX® injections can develop antibodies to the toxin that is used which makes further follow up treatments ineffective.
