REMOVAL OF THREAD OR SPIDER VEINS

Thread Vein
Removal

Fight away unsightly veins with a specialised injection.

How does it work?

Thread veins (or spider veins are they’re sometimes known) are the name for an unsightly appearance of veins on the face or body.

One of the most popular methods of treatment is known as sclerotherapy, mostly due to its non-invasive nature. During the treatment, a specially formulated solution is injected directly into the vein which causes it to scar and collapse entirely, forcing your blood to flow through healthier veins instead. The now collapsed vein breaks own and is absorbed into the local tissue until it eventually fades away, leaving you with smooth and healthy skin.

It’s perfect as a method of treatment for unsightly thread veins on the legs and is known for giving back confidence to those who suffered with these kind of veins. Thanks to it’s non-invasive nature, and the fact that there is very little to no downtime associated with it, it’s very quickly becoming the most popular procedure for thread vein removal.

What should I expect from a thread vein removal treatment?

During a sclerotherapy treatment, a range of tiny needles are used to inject a special solution into the veins near the surface of the skin. Some patients don’t feel anything at all, whereas others report a sort of pinprick type sensation, but either way it’s not considered to be an uncomfortable treatment by any means. Depending on the sclerosant used, it may be a little uncomfortable as the solution is injected but this varies on a person to person basis.

During the procedure, the leg will be elevated to help drain any blood before they are injected with the solution. This usually takes anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes depending on the number of affected veins.

It’s likely that you may experience some amount of redness and swelling at the injection sites, but these normally resolve themselves naturally over the next few days. Your legs may initially look bruised or the veins may seem worse before they get better, but once they clear up they will appear much cleaner than before.

By around two weeks after your treatment, you should see a noticeable level of improvement in the appearance of the affected veins and the results will continue to improve until you see the full and final results around 12 weeks post treatment.

What happens after the thread vein removal treatment?

Before leaving, our team will provide you with clear instructions on what you should do next, as well as full aftercare instructions and information. This may vary depending on the type and number of veins that have been treated, as well as their exact positioning on the legs. You will also be given support stocking for each treated leg and we will give you full information on any recommendations that will aid and support your recovery to make it as easy and smooth as possible.

Generally, there isn’t actually any downtime associated with this treatment and you should be able to walk again immediately following your treatment. Having said that, we do recommend taking it easy for a few days as well as avoiding any strenuous exercise and prolonged exposure to the sun.
